Meet the Huawei Mate 9 Pro

After the successful launch of the new Mate 9 and the pricier model the Porsche Design Mate 9, the company is at it again with the release of the new Mate 9 Pro. For the full story, check it out down below by

At an event to unveil the Mate 9 and the smaller Porsche Design Mate 9 in China, Huawei took the chance to also show off on stage the Mate 9 Pro, a near-exact replica of the Porsche Design Mate 9 bar the Porsche Design branding.

The Specs

The device’s specifications like the 6GB RAM, the curved display and the font fingerprint sensor embedded on the physical home button are features that we’ve already seen in the €1,395 Porsche Design Mate 9.

Difference from the Porshe Design Mate 9

However, unlike the costly limited edition Porsche Design Mate 9, the Mate 9 Pro will lack 256GB onboard storage with its makers opting to limit it at 128GB instead for the 6GB RAM model and introducing a 64GB onboard storage variant with the now standard 4GB RAM. Whereas the Porsche Design Mate 9 will only be available in one colour, black, the Mate 9 Pro will come in three other colour options (no black): white, silver and blue. Oh, and at just an equivalent of $775 and $687 for the 6GB and 4GB models respectively, the Mate 9 Pro is way cheaper than its designer-labelled sibling and pricier than the standard Mate 9.

Seeing as it is that Huawei opted to launch the Mate 9 Pro in China instead of letting it share a platform with the (standard) Mate 9 and the Porsche Design Mate 9 at its global launch in Munich that could be a signal that the company may not have plans to make the device available outside its Chinese home market. Or maybe not. We’ll update you with the details as we get them.
